YOUR ROLE
As a Lead Shared Technology Engineer, you will take charge of a multidisciplinary team responsible for Automated Testing, DevOps, and Backend services for our organisation. Your focus will be on leading the team, setting technical direction, and ensuring the quality, scalability, and reliability of our infrastructure.
Given the diverse nature of this role, we understand that you may not be an expert in every domain. We are specifically looking for someone with a strong background in DevOps & Automated Testing, especially for Game Development, who can lead experts in other areas while making informed technical decisions.
Your leadership will be instrumental in driving best practices in developer tooling, automated testing, and scalable web services, ensuring our large-scale multiplayer experiences run smoothly.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, promoting a culture of growth, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Define and drive technical direction, making informed decisions about CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, and cloud technologies.
- Oversee and improve developer experience, ensuring seamless workflows through DevOps best practices and automation.
- Own sprint and task management, ensuring efficient workflows and clear prioritisation across backend, analytics, DevOps and automated testing.
- Champion code quality, scalability, and maintainability, particularly in backend systems.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, leads, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with project goals.
- Grow the backend discipline in PlayerUnknown Productions and develop our LiveOps capabilities
YOUR PROFILE
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing engineers across multiple specialisations.
- Experience with DevOps/CI/CD, with a focus on automated testing and improving developer experience.
- Solid programming background in C++, with an emphasis on code quality and architecture.
- Experience with backend technologies for games (AWS, identity services, analytics pipelines, etc.).
- A coaching and enabling mindset, empowering specialists to do their best work.
- Strong stakeholder management skills - comfortable interfacing with other engineers, teams, and leadership.
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- Experience working on massively multiplayer games that ship frequent updates.
- Hands-on experience with CMake, Python, and CI tools.
- Background in analytics systems or large-scale backend services.
LOCATION
Hybrid (within The Netherlands) or fully remote within Europe.

You are free to work and hang out with us every day in our Amsterdam Studio. If you prefer to work from home, you can take advantage of three work-from-home days a week.
